Response to Intervention (RTI) Overview

RTI depends on shifting the policies and processes involved in student instruction, using scientifically based instruction within the context of a multi-tiered service delivery model.  Achieving RTI success is done through the collaboration of general and special education teachers, specialists, interventionists, and counselors.

Through this NEW Fast-Track to Improvement Study we will alleviate the guesswork in successful RTI frameworks by introducing you to:
•    innovative leaders and experts to gain an understanding of the core principles and process in successful RTI frameworks
•    best practices from practitioners who have demonstrated success in creating, implementing and sustaining a framework that creates a culture of collaboration and support
•    an online community where you can connect and network with colleagues to gain a deeper understanding of practices and processes, and discuss lessons learned
•    tips and tools to initiate the implementation and to further develop an exceptional RTI framework

This new Fast Track to Improvement for Response to Intervention is just that: fast, easy, and ALL virtual, without the worry of travel costs and having to leave the office.  We make it convenient and affordable to learn at the office.

APQC has done the work for you!  We have found the most sucessful districts of different sizes, different maturity levels from around the the county in addition to Subject Matter Experts and Special Advisers.  They will help escalate your learning on what's working and how to create engaging Response to Intervention programs and processes at your district.  If you have a strong RTI program at your district, join us and validate how well your RTI program is working with our study.

Study Scope for Best Practices in Response to Intervention

Focus and Design–The purpose of this section is to get an overview of your approach to RTI and its underlying purpose and objectives.
•   What are the components of your RTI framework?
     —
Including structure, guiding and design principles, stakeholders, and funding sources
•   What are the underlying assumptions and purposes/objectives of your RTI framework?
•   What  What lessons learned have you captured regarding the design of your RTI framework?

ImplementationThe purpose of this section is to understand the implementation that accompanied your RTI framework and how the framework has evolved.
•   What are the systems and structures that you have implemented to support and embed your RTI framework?
•   What other enablers have you put in place to support your RTI framework?

•   How are you ensuring the fidelity of RTI implementation (are the tiers being implemented properly, are the core principles of the program being fulfilled)?
•   What lessons learned have you captured regarding RTI evaluation?

Here are just a few of the questions our Best-Practice Districts will be addressing:

What type of interventions are typically used within your framework?

What assessments are used for universal screening and progress monitoring?

How has your RTI framework evolved over time?

How do you monitor the fidelity of implementation?

How do you measure the effectiveness of your RTI framework?

Has RTI contributed directly or indirectly to student achievment? If so, how?

What do you consider to be critical success factors for RTI implementation?

This series consists of:

  • Five Best Practice Virtual Webcasts
  • One Virtual Knowledge Transfer Session - discuss key findings and network
  • NEW Collection of Quantitative and Qualitative Data
  • Practitioner's Guide - key learnings, practitioners' presentations
  • Methodologies
  • Implementation Collaboration NEW  two Webcasts
  • Project Spaces - sharing knowledge and connecting with peers virtually
  • Virtual Vendor Expo - learn what resources are helpful with RTI

APQC will help your district implement the key findings from the series and show you how to form teams, pick topics and start implementing the changes immediately.  This isn't just another sit and take notes series.  With our implementation, your district applies the learnings with the methodologies shared.  We take the guesswork out of "next steps" with our Quick Start Implementation Collaboration at the end of this study.
